Spelling Flunks & Father-Daughter Fixes

Friday came in hot, but we knuckled down and actually got things wrapped up by 1 o’clock with Jayme. Not bad for a rocky start! The spelling test was a bust—we failed it, and Jayme honestly didn’t seem too bothered. Maybe that’s one of the hidden perks of homeschooling: no red ink, no shame, just a quiet “retake” and moving on like nothing happened.

Neil, of course, swooped in like the homeschool sidekick he is. When he saw Jayme starting to get frustrated, he whisked her away to work on some outside projects. Those two are seriously two peas in a pod—it’s magic watching them together.

Meanwhile, Paisley is my steady-as-she-goes kid. She happily entertains herself, proud as can be, watching her videos and soaking up that “I’m a big kid now” feeling. She’s so easy, I sometimes catch myself forgetting she’s still only six.

By the end of the day, I was equal parts grateful and exhausted, but hey—another feral Friday survived.
